Hi friends,
I just have to start. I can feel the madness of thoughts swirling above my head like an angry swarm of wasps — how do I choose one? So much has happened since moving here.
The Crackle of a New Beginning
Tonight, I’m alone by the fire, listening to it crackle and breathe in the cold autumn air.
The mountains woke dusted in fresh snow this morning, and it made me crave something sweet (see recipe below).
This will be my first real winter. My California tan still clings to memory, but I already know I’ll be a child to the fireplace once the sun slips early behind the peaks.
Becoming
I am married now. We’re married now. The word married sounds stiff, but the feeling is wide.
I am so in love.
Marriage has been a stitching — a breaking and a golden mending — because we choose honesty and the heart over ego. A practice that is changing me in the most humbling, beautiful ways.
A Language Beyond Words
I don’t yet speak the language well, but I feel people here. That has reminded me there’s a language beyond words — the language of the heart.
Being here without fluent speech has made me kinder with first impressions and more curious about what I don’t yet understand.
Threads I’m Following
For now, I’m holding three threads:
Nature. Relationship. Language.
They weave together, pull apart, and teach me different things every day.
I’m just beginning this adventure — and I’m so happy you’re here with me.
With joy,
Bridgette
🍯 Mini “Recipe”: Butter-Stuffed Dates (A Little Sweetness for the Season)
This winter, I’m leaning into fat — the good kind.
One of my favorite quick treats right now is dates stuffed with grass-fed butter. Sweet, salty, creamy, chewy — it feels decadent, but it’s also deeply nourishing.
✨ Here’s why fat matters (especially in the colder months):
- Skin hydration: Healthy fats protect your skin from dryness and keep it glowing, even when the air gets crisp and dry.
- Hormone balance: Vitamins A, D, E, and K2 (abundant in grass-fed butter) are fat-soluble, meaning your body can only use them if you’re eating fat alongside.
- Sustained energy: Pairing fat with natural sugars (like dates) keeps your blood sugar steady so you don’t crash.
I have always been a fan of butter. It’s simple, grounding, and nourishing from the inside out.
Try it: Split open a date, remove the pit, and stuff it with a pat of grass-fed butter. That’s it. ✨
Oh, and here in the Swiss Alps there is no such thing as grass-fed butter. All cows are grass-fed here.
How to:
Split a few Medjool dates in half and remove the pits.
Fill each with a small pat of butter and a pinch of sea salt.
Warm them by the fire (or in the oven for a few minutes) until soft and caramelized.
Enjoy them slowly — they taste like the season feels.
